Fred Yates Painting 'Going to School'
DESCRIPTION: A Fred Yates unframed acrylic painting on canvas, in excellent condition and entitled GOING TO SCHOOL - QUEEN OR BRIGHTON. This painting is from Fred's studio collection and is likely to have been part of his private collection and possibly painted in Brighton before he moved to France in the early 1990's. Lots of characters and a wonderful row of dogs incised in the paintwork to the left of the signature. Thick impasto paintwork to this work and lots of lovely abstract characters. A man in cloth cap presenting a bouquet of flowers to a lady (maybe the Queen). The man in the cap is quite likely to be Fred himself. The frame of the canvas and the back of the canvas bear the Fred Yates Atelier Sale stamp and also stamp and label from Leighton Fine Arts who were at the Paris sale of Fred's studio contents on March 31st 2014. The painting is signed lower right.
