Percy Metcalfe was a London-born artist, sculptor and coin designer who produced a number of art deco styled pieces for Ashtead Potters Limited in Surrey.
Designs for Ashtead Potters include a lion that was produced for the Wembley exhibition of 1924 and another similar Art Deco styled piece known as the Lion of Industry. The Royal Mint Museum has a number of coins designed by Metcalfe along with plaster models including a rare 1937 shilling design and a Voluntary Medical Service Medal.
