DESCRIPTION: Large earthenware bust of the American actor Will Rogers in art deco style, likely to have been designed by Sir Percy Metcalfe.
BASE MARKS: Ashtead Potters stamp with 'Star' date mark indicating 1925/1926. 'M26' refers to the Ashtead Potters catalogue number and the 'k.' is the glaze mark.

DESIGNER: Attributed to Sir Percy Metcalfe. There are no markings on the bust to indicate that it was designed by Sir Percy Metcalfe, however the design is so close to other Metcalfe works (especially the face jugs) that we think it is safe to say that it can attributed to Metcalfe.
