Eugène-Antoine Durenne 'Coucher de Soleil'
DESCRIPTION: A superb, early period impressionist oil on canvas by the important French painter Eugene Antoine Durenne entitled 'Coucher de Soleil' (Sunset). This is an early work by the artist, dated 1898. The work has been catalogued by Galerie Durand-Ruel, which was established by Paul Durand-Ruel and was concerned with establishing the first impressionists such as Whistler, Degas, Renoir, Sisley, Manet, Pissarro and Monet. The painting is presented in an ornate gold coloured frame.
