DESCRIPTION: A post-impressionist oil on board by the important French painter Eugène Antoine Durenne entitled 'Le Rhône a Lhuis'. The work is dated 1937 and shows the landscape of the Rhône at the village of Lhuis, a commune in the Ain department in eastern France. Durenne works have been catalogued by Galerie Durand-Ruel, which was established by Paul Durand-Ruel and was concerned with establishing the first impressionist painters such as Whistler, Degas, Renoir, Sisley, Manet, Pissarro and Monet. The painting is unframed.
