DESCRIPTION: A superb, large post-impressionist oil on canvas by the important French painter Eugène Antoine Durenne showing boats on the river Seine. This is a rare large work by the artist. Durenne's paintings were photographed and catalogued by Galerie Durand-Ruel, which was established by Paul Durand-Ruel and was concerned with promoting the first impressionist painters such as Whistler, Degas, Renoir, Sisley, Manet, Pissarro and Monet.
