DESCRIPTION: An earthenware putto on pedestal with accompanying earthenware bowl. The putto is glaze 'x.' (Ivory) and the bowl is 'k' glaze (Pearl Barley) with blue and black banding to the rim inside and out.
BASE MARKS (FIGURE): Ashtead Potters stamp with 'Crescent' date mark indicating 1927. 'M48.' refers to the Ashtead Potters catalogue number and the 'x.' is the glaze mark. (BOWL): Ashtead Potters stamp with 'Anchor' date mark thought to indicate 1929. 'B60.' refers to the Ashtead Potters catalogue number (the 'b' standing for bowl) and the 'k.' is the glaze mark. The 'gy' is the pattern number. There is a single dot over the Ashtead logo which indicates the piece was decorated by Albert Vincent.
